RATINGS:

WKC, W.O.M.A.A., and a part of the National Martial Arts Circuit www.nationalmartialartscircuit.com & event qualifier for the the 2020 World Martial Games in Portugal.

WORLD MARTIAL ART GAMES:

The Tiger Balm Internationals is a W.O.M.A.A.sanctioned, qualifying event to help pick members for TEAM CANADA for the 2020 World Martial Games, Portimao, Portugal. Please check the WOMAA website: www.womaa.com for further information.

SAFETY EQUIPMENT IS MANDATORY:

Includes: Hand/foot pads, mouthpiece, groin cup (for males), and headgear. Some protective equipment may be available for sale on site. 14 oz Gloves will be provided for the WKC Continuous Divisions. Padded finger-less gloves will be supplied for MMA Sparring (No Face), and Lei Tai Sport Fighting (along with head gear and chest guards). Padded head gear and chest protectors will also be supplied for the Padded Weapons division.

ELEVEN SPARRING CATEGORIES:

We offer the following sparring categories:

  • SKIL point fighting,
  • SKIL, & WKC Continuous Sparring,
  • MMA Sparring (No Face),
  • Padded Weapons Point Sparring,
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu,
  • Submission Grappling,
  • Lei Tai Sport Fighting,
  • Taiji Push Hands,
  • and Hapkido Sparring.

Please note there is no full contact in any fighting/sparring divisions. All competitive sport fighting is controlled contact only. Controlled contact at at tournament means that any competitor may be instantly disqualified for the use of excessive or inappropriate contact. Please consult with the director and referees of your event with any questions. Coaches and competitors are required to attend the rules meetings at the start of the sparring event in order to participate. Fun and friendly safe competition is the number one priority at the Tiger Balm Internationals. 

PADDED WEAPON’S POINT FIGHTING:

Padded weapon’s point sparring combatants are Required to have the following: Martial arts uniform, mouthpiece, athletic cup (male combatants), and protective hand pads; and to have fingernails and toenails trimmed.

Recommended equipment: Knee and shin pads (optional but highly recommended), shoes (non-marking soles), elbow pads (optional but highly recommended), and any safety pads a combatant feels are necessary to prevent injury without restriction of motion.

PADDED WEAPONS SUPPLIED EQUIPMENT BY THE EVENT:

Weapon of choice (tonfa, nunchaku, three sectional staff, katana, staff, and various length sticks), headgear (full face guard head), and chest protectors.

AGE RULE:

All ranks must compete at the age they are as of January 1, 2020.
